Melbourne Cup Winner

Which horse will be the Melbourne Cup Winner this year? It is the 150th Melbourne Cup which makes it all the more special.

Did you know that the first running of the Melbourne Cup was won by Archer. The horse Archer was trained by Etienne De Mestre. The Melbourne Cup is Australia's biggest thoroughbred horse race. Ever since the first time it was held in 1861, horses internationally have won this extraordinary race.

Bart Cummings has been the trainer of 12 Melbourne Cup winners, his first being Light Fingers in 1965. He is going for his lucky 13th win this year.

What makes this race so special is that people in Melbourne get a day off work just because of this race. It is known as the race that stops the nation. It literally does. Millions of people tune into this event and watch these horses go round the track in roughly a bit over 3 minutes. People will be shouting and screaming at their tv sets or watching it live or listening it on the radio and go berserk.

There are millions of dollars of bets that go on the horses at the Melbourne Cup. The number of people that end up going to this event is in the hundreds of thousands.

The winner of this years Melbourne Cup will be announced in my blog as soon as I know the answer. In the mean time if you want to learn more about betting on this famous race, then you should go here: http://egglets.com/melbournecup/
